Mark your calendars! Sunday June 9 from 11 am-2 pm, Fire Chief Dennis Rubin will be at the Huntingtown VFD, promoting, selling and signing copies of his newest book, "DC FIRE," which was released less than 1 week ago. In addition, his other two books, "RUBE'S RULES FOR LEADERSHIP" & "RUBE'S RULES FOR SURVIVAL" will be for sale.

1) DC FIRE: This book relives many of the most interesting case studies that Chief Rubin and his Executive Team had to resolve during his four year tenure with the Washington, DC Fire Department (DCFD). Each chapter in this 200 page textbook ends with how Rubin's Team resolved each issue and what the end results were using the solutions that they put forth. Next, the book list questions that will cause the reader to think about being thrust into a similar situation in the own department. This book will prove to be a "page turner" and will help prepare today and tomorrow's fire-rescue service leaders.

2) RUBE'S RULES FOR LEADERSHIP: Rube's Rules For Leadership is an interesting and dynamic book that explores the world of business leadership. Written by Dennis L. Rubin, a municipal fire chief for several major cities to include Norfolk, Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia, and Washington, DC. Over the past 30 years, Rubin has developed and refined his leadership rules into this interesting and informative book that is rich with guidance and real world insight. Based on "Rube's" thirteen rules to live by at work and at home, this book will help anyone who is in a leadership role. Each rule is written in a direct and straight forward way that will help the reader implement it into their life. Rubin conducts an intensive training seminar based on the "rules" which has been presented to fire departments throughout North America to great acclaim. If you are interested in improving your leadership style or becoming a better overall agency, you will want to get a copy of this book.

3) RUBE'S RULES FOR SURVIVAL: "Nothing beats being prepared and trained for the job at hand. Professionals never let their guard down. You must always do the right thing and never fly by the seat of your pants."

So goes the wisdom of veteran firefighter Dennis L. Rubin, a.k.a. "The Rube" in Rubes Rules For Survival. Follow him as he traces the ups and downs of his distinguished career in a lively, entertaining and educational manner. Rubin presents case studies culled from personal experiences, mixing in the personal brushes with tragedy and humor that all firefighters know so well. You'll take these timely truths to heart as well as back to the job.

During the book signing, the film, "NERVE CENTER: WASHINGTON DC FIRE & EMS" will be playing continually in a loop fashion. There are discounts available for buying more than 1 of his books. In addition, food & beverages will be available during the entire event. For additional information, contact Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Riffe at jonriffe@yahoo.com.
