By President Patrick Hassler
January 5, 2017

The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of Past Chief / Past President and Life Member Warren Douglas Gott.
Warren joined the Calvert County Volunteer Fire Department, now known as the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, in 1957 as an energetic teen with a desire to serve his community. During the last 59 years he has served our department operationally in rank from Sergeant all the way up to Chief. Administratively he has served as Chairman and member of countless committees, has been a member of the PFVFD Board of Directors and President of the Department. Even though recently, because of health reasons, Warren was forced to settle for a less active role, he still remained an Administrative Life Member of the Department until his death.
During his time in the fire service, he chaired and served on many committees in the Calvert County and Southern Maryland Associations. He was a Past President of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Fireman’s Association (SMVFA) and has served as department delegate to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association and Calvert County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. He was inducted into the SMVFA Hall of Fame in 1987, the Calvert County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association Hall of Fame in 1995 and was recently honored in 2015 as an inductee to the Maryland State Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame.
Warren’s last active role with the County Association was as the Fire Representative to the Calvert County Fire and Rescue Commission from February 2001 to March 2008 where he also served for a time as Commission Chairman.

Warren, you will be dearly missed. We treasured our time with you and everything you did for our department and we feel safer knowing you are looking down on us as we respond out every single day. We will strive to continue moving forward with the traditions and pride you helped to instill in us and do our best to make you proud. We salute you and are honored to call you our brother. May you rest peacefully.
