As the school year kicks off, we're thrilled to welcome our Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS recruits back to the classroom! This year, our recruits were greeted with brand-new bookbags filled with essential school supplies to set them up for success. A special shoutout to our seniors, who received their fire gear for the year—gear made possible through the SAFER Grant, with the generous support of the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the County Commissioners, the dedicated instructors and staff at the Calvert County Career and Technology Academy (CTA), our Calvert County Volunteer Fire & Rescue CTA Liaisons, and the incredible volunteer departments. Your unwavering support is vital in helping our recruits thrive throughout the school year.

The Fire-Rescue-EMS program at the CTA is a unique and cooperative effort that brings together the Career and Technology Academy, our volunteers, and local and state government. High school students in this program gain in-depth knowledge about the Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS Division while honing the essential skills needed for future career opportunities. This comprehensive program offers students the chance to earn state and national certifications through a blend of graded coursework, developmental assignments, and real-world, on-the-scene observations.

Here's to a fantastic school year ahead, filled with learning, growth, and hands-on training. We can't wait to see all the amazing things our recruits will achieve!
