As Fire Prevention Month draws to a close, Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS would like to thank our community for an inspiring month dedicated to fire safety and prevention. The importance of fire prevention cannot be overstated; it is essential in protecting our families, friends, homes, and the community we all cherish. Through diligent efforts and awareness, we are building a safer, more resilient Calvert County.

This year's theme, Smoke Alarms – Make Them WORK For You!, reminded us of one of the simplest yet most effective tools in fire prevention. Testing smoke alarms, understanding fire escape plans, and practicing fire-safe habits are proactive steps each of us can take to reduce fire-related risks. Prevention starts at home, but together as a community, our impact is even greater.

We were grateful for the opportunity to participate in Open Houses hosted by our local volunteer fire departments throughout the county. These events allowed families to learn about fire prevention in an interactive way, from various demonstrations to hands-on activities with firefighters. Engaging with our neighbors and educating residents of all ages about fire safety practices reinforced our commitment to fostering awareness.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and shared in our mission. Together, we are building a community that values safety, supports one another, and prioritizes fire prevention. While Fire Prevention Month may be ending, fire safety is a year-round commitment. Let’s keep up the momentum and stay proactive in protecting Calvert County.
