Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS Cadets enrolled in the Fire Sciences Program at the Calvert Career and Technology Academy (CTA) participated in an insightful field trip on Tuesday, April 1st to the Calvert County Emergency Communications Center. This visit provided our cadets with a valuable opportunity for an in-depth look at the dispatch side of emergency services.

During their visit, the cadets learned firsthand about the critical processes involved in receiving emergency calls, gathering essential information, and dispatching the appropriate fire, EMS, and law enforcement resources. They gained a deeper appreciation for the technology, skills, and composure required by dispatchers who serve as the vital first link in the chain of response during emergencies.

This experience provided our cadets with a comprehensive understanding of how different branches of emergency services collaborate, starting from the initial call for help. Understanding the role and challenges of emergency communications is crucial for their development as future fire service professionals.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the entire team at the Calvert County Emergency Communications Center. Thank you for taking the time to host the cadets, share your invaluable knowledge, and provide such an insightful and educational experience. Your partnership in training the next generation of emergency responders is greatly appreciated.
