On Saturday, August 19th, Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS held its annual volunteer appreciation day. This is a special event dedicated to honoring the selfless individuals who dedicate their time and effort serving our community.
The event took place at the Calvert County Fairgrounds and was attended by volunteers and their families. There were various activities, games, music and food for volunteers and their families to enjoy. The event not only brought the departments together with their families for a day of fun but also allowed us to hand out some amazing prizes! We had almost 100 prizes and had many generous local businesses in our community who wanted to show their appreciation and donated items as well!
This annual event would not be possible without the support of the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, their continuous dedication to our volunteers is unwavering and we are extremely grateful for their support. We were delighted that Commissioners Earl “Buddy” Hance, Catherine Grasso, Mark Cox, Sr. and Todd Ireland were able to stop by and thank some of our volunteers in person. Commissioner Hart was saddened he was unable to attend in person due to a prior commitment but sent his well wishes for a wonderful event and appreciation to all of our volunteers and their families.
This day served as a reminder of the incredible dedication and sacrifice made by our volunteers, who often put their own lives on the line to ensure the safety and well-being of others. We hope everyone had a wonderful time and we look forward to planning the next one!
Thank you public safety for a wonderful VAD. The time and energy that was put into making it successful, was evident in all of the faces of the volunteers. Thank you for what you do.
