With profound sadness, Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS would like to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Daniel "D.O." Baker Jr., Past Chief, Past President, and Life Member of St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department. D.O.'s passing marks the end of an era for our community.
D.O. joined the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department in 1987, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and a passion for fire service that quickly became evident. Under his guidance and leadership, they achieved the Zembower Fire Service Training Award for three consecutive years, a first for any department in the State.
D.O.'s contributions went beyond training. He was instrumental in securing funding and apparatus for their building expansion project in the 1990s. His dedication to the community and the fire service was further recognized through his service on the Maryland State Fire Prevention Commission. D.O. was honored by being inducted into the Calvert County Fire & Rescue Association Hall of Fame, the Southern Maryland Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame, and the Maryland State Firefighters Association Hall of Fame.
